If you ask a nutritionist, junk food at any time of the day or night is not good for you. But, when it comes to when it’s worse to eat junk food,I ‘d say it’s at night. That’s because late night snacking can have a host of negative effects on your body and mind.
First, if you have trouble sleeping at night, it might be because you’re eating junk food too late in the day. You get that increase in blood sugar that gives you energy, and then you find yourself tossing and turning. Never mind the stomach problems that you might experience in the middle of the night because of the junk food you snacked on!
Trying to maintain a healthy weight, or lose a few extra pounds? Don’t eat too late in the day. The last thing you want to do is consume all of those calories, and all of that excess fat, before bed, when you won’t be burning any of it off. It’s a recipe for weight gain!
Rather than having a late-night snack, make it a point to eat a filling, healthy dinner that is high in protein and fiber, and that will keep you full through the rest of your evening. Then, you’ll be ready for bed, and you won’t feel hungry to the point that you need to get up and find a midnight snack.
Again, I wouldn’t recommend eating junk food in the first place, but if you must give yourself an unhealthy treat, do it earlier in the day when you’re active enough to be burning calories and fat.
